Arbor Lodge State Historical Park
Children’s program hosted annually for local school children
By Grace Johnson
Don’t miss a chance to see the recently restored Arbor Lodge
State Historical Park’s Morton Mansion over Arbor Day weekend.
Renovations were funded by the Saving America’s Treasures grant,
LB309 funding and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission funding.
Also recently restored are the Morton’s historical formal garden
walls, funded by the Wirth Foundation.
“The mansion looks great,” said Arbor Lodge Superintendent Randy
Fox.
On Friday, April 27, Arbor Lodge State Historical Park will host
two children’s programs, one in the morning from 9-10 a.m. for
kindergarten through second graders, and one in the afternoon
from 1-2:45 p.m. for third through fifth graders. One thousand
trees will be given away to the attending children and adults
courtesy of Arbor Lodge and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
On Saturday, a commemorative tree planting will take place at
3 p.m. to honor the Arbor Day Tree Planter Award winner and Arbor
Day Honorees. The route of the 5-K goes around the park.
