Building Permits

The Nebraska City Building
Inspector’s office is located at city hall and is open from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services provided by the building inspector include
inspection of construction, issuing building permits, zoning enforcement
and review of structural and architectural blue prints.
Building permits can be acquired by calling 873-6509 or going to city hall during business hours. Building permits are required for any change to an existing structure, such as new windows, wider doors, room additions or deck. Permits are also required for new structures, including storage sheds, poles, walls and fences.
The cost of the building permit depends upon the value of the improvement,
but the minimum cost is $10. If a structure is built without a permit,
residents can be fined up to $100 a day for every day they are in
violation.
