Wildwood Park
A city park of 63.7 acres,
located on Steinhart Park Road, Wildwood features a picnic area
with grills, restrooms, access to drinking water, a shelter area
and a playground. The park also features fishing and a fountain.
The park is handicapped accessible. The park’s centerpiece
is Wildwood Historic Home and Art Barn, which now features a Victorian
garden.
Nuckolls Square Park
A city park of approximately
1.7 acres, located at 11th Street and Second Avenue, Nuckolls
Square features two gazebos, a picnic area, a playground, restrooms,
access to drinking water and a shelter. The park is handicapped
accessible.
Steinhart Park
A city park of approximately
54.4 acres, located on Steinhart Park Road, Steinhart Park features
ball fields, a basketball court, access to drinking water, fishing,
a fountain located on Steinhart Pond, horseshoe pits, an outdoor
ice skating rink, a picnic area with grills, playground equipment,
restrooms, a shelter, a sledding slide and tennis courts. A skate
park is a new feature and is expected to be completed the summer
of 2005. Steinhart Park is also the home of the city pool. The
park is handicapped accessible.
Arbor Lodge State Park
This Nebraska State Park,
which has an entrance on Second Avenue, is home to the Arbor Lodge
Mansion, former home of Nebraska City pioneer couple J. Sterling
and Caroline Morton. In addition to the mansion, the park features
picnicking, accessibility to drinking water and restrooms. A Nebraska
State Park permit, which can be obtained at the mansion, is required
for entry to the park. A separate fee is charged for visiting
the mansion.
Steamboat Trace
The trail head for Steamboat
Trace, a hiking and biking trail, is just southeast of Nebraska
City. To reach the trail head, follow Highway 75 one mile south
of Nebraska City to the OPPD access road, turn east and follow
that road for approximately three miles to the trail head. The
trail corridor extends approximately 21 miles from the northern
trail head near Nebraska City through Peru and Brownville. On
the trail, experience the landscape where Lewis and Clark’s
Corps of Discovery camped and explored along the Missouri River
200 years ago.
Riverview Marina
A Nebraska State recreation
area located northeast of Nebraska City on Fifth Street, Riverview
Marina features the city’s only primitive camping sites.
The Marina has a campground, picnic area with grills, and a dock
for launching boats into the Missouri River. Restrooms, drinking
water and showers are also provided at the site. A Nebraska State
Park permit is required for entry to the Marina.
Greggsport Park
A city park of approximately
1.7 acres, located at Fourth Street and Eighth Avenue, Greggsport
features playground equipment and a soccer field.
Kearney Hill Park
A city park of 1.7 acres,
located at Fourth Terrace and Sixth Rue, Kearney Hill park features
ball fields and playground equipment.
