CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Welcome to the city of Tecumseh. Tecumseh was
founded 149 years ago and will be celebrating its Sesquicentennial
in 2006. The city is nestled in the rolling hills of the
Nemaha River valley and is home to 1,700 residents.
The Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce provides an information network
to businesses, residents, and visitors. The Chamber office,
located at 136 N. 5th St., has resident guides, maps, activity
calendars, and rental information available. Chamber Secretary
Eloise Bartels also has access to many other resources and is
willing to research any question or concern.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors numerous activities for Tecumseh
residents and visitors. These activities include the Easter
Egg Hunt, Farmer's Market, Home and Garden Show, Christmas Lighting
Contest, Santa's Arrival, and the Christmas Shopping Promotion.
Other events in town include the Avenue of Flags, Horse
& Buggy Days, July 4th Horse Show, July 4th Fireworks Display,
and the Johnson County Fair. Visitors may also want to
visit our many historic buildings. Tecumseh also has numerous
civic organizations and churches to meet the needs of its residents.
Tecumseh's health care needs are addressed by several quality
facilities including, Belle Terrace Nursing Home, Family Health
Services Inc., Johnson County Hospital, Johnson County Medical
Clinic, Ridgeview Towers Assisted Living, and Tecumseh Family
Health. With four doctors, two physician’s assistants,
one nurse practitioner, two chiropractors, an optometrist, dentist
and many, many consulting specialists, residents of Tecumseh
can be assured they will receive the most current and up to
date medical care in the area.
The educational needs of the local children are met through
Tecumseh Public Schools and St. Andrew’s Catholic School.
The schools offer a diverse array of exciting sporting
events, fine arts, and civic and social clubs.
So, whether you are moving
to Tecumseh for job opportunities or looking for a lovely town to retire
to, we are excited that you have decided to make Tecumseh your home and we
hope that you will become involved in the Chamber of Commerce as soon as
possible.
