EMERGENCY SERVICES

Tecumseh offers a variety of emergency services.

Police
The Tecumseh Police Department has four uniformed patrol officers. Its main office is located at 148 S. Fourth St.
Services include criminal investigation, accident investigation, animal control and child welfare. Mike Van Langingham has served as the chief of police since 2000.

Fire Department
The Tecumseh Fire Department is staffed by 25 volunteer firefighters. Its main duties are fire protection and accident extrication. The fire chief is Rod Vrbka.
The department utilizes three mainline pumpers and one reserve pumper. It also has two tankers and two wildfire grass rigs.
Tecumseh is a member of Southeast Nebraska Mutual Aid, which encompasses all of the departments in Johnson and Pawnee counties. The department is also a member of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association.
The department provides protection for the community and rural area, which covers about 175 square miles.
Tecumseh has one fire station and over 200 fire hydrants. The department has been recognized by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office for service and fire investigation and by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Department of Forestry and the National Fire Safety Council for its fire prevention efforts and programs. Johnson County Ambulance Service
Johnson County Ambulance Service also provides emergency services for Tecumseh residents. Volunteers provide service with the help of up-to-date equipment and ambulances. In case of emergency, call 911. For billing questions call 335-6305.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Department
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is also located in Tecumseh.
 In case of emergency, call 911. For non-emergencies call 335-3307.
For burn permits, residents are required to apply at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
