A variety of family-oriented events throughout
the year provide Tecumseh residents and visitors opportunities
for fun and for meeting their neighbors.
April Easter Egg Hunt - On the Courthouse lawn. For information, call 402-335-3400. May Horse and Buggy Days - Tecumseh recognizes its historic past with the Horse and Buggy Days Festival held each Memorial Day weekend. This event promotes the types of activities occurring during the years when horses were the mainstay of a farmer's livelihood. Activities held each year during Horse and Buggy Days include typical horse events of the past such as buggy rides, pony rides, horseshoe tournament, etc. In honor of the town’s namesake, Tecumseh, Native American dancing and pow wow related activities are sometimes scheduled. Other events include: Farmer’s Market Prairie blacksmith demonstrations Museum tours Mutton Bustin’ Cow chip throw Buggy and pony rides Ice cream social Kids’ rodeo Live entertainment at the bandshell Classic cars and antique tractors on display 3 on 3 basketball and volleyball. August Johnson County Fair - first weekend - carnival, 4-H judging, grandstand shows, antique tractor pull, special events, veteran's parade Friday afternoon, kids rodeo Saturday, church service Sunday morning. September Johnson County Autumnfest - Farmers Market, craft fair, Kiwanis Pancake Feed, Entertainment at the bandshell in the afternoon, dance in the evening.
