SCHOOLS

Tecumseh provides residents with a variety of
educational opportunities including a public school system, a
parochial school system and adult education classes.
Public Schools
The Tecumseh school district is accredited by the North Central Unit School of the State of Nebraska. The elementary school was built in 1933. The secondary school was built in 1968. Children with special needs are provided with extensive special education and mainstream programs. School activities include band, chorus, drama and speech clubs, cheerleading, Future Business Leaders of America, student council, national honor society, cross country, volleyball, football, basketball, wrestling, track and golf. Adult education is offered at the high school through Southeast Community College. Other available adult courses are offered through Peru State College, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Southeast Community College, Beatrice and Lincoln. For information, call 402-335-3320. Parochial School
St. Andrew's Catholic School was built in 1963 and serves a K-8 enrollment with an excellent teacher to pupil ratio. Located at 179 N. 6th St., the school can be reached at 402-335-2234.
Father John A. Cooper is the superintendent
and Sister Carol Hohmeier is the principal.
