Big first half lifts Cowboys

By Kirt Manion
Hamburg Reporter

A 69-yard touchdown run by Sidney’s Triston Crouch sparked a 43-point first half as Sidney topped the Hamburg football team 56-28 on Friday.

Crouch scored twice more in the first quarter on runs of five and 11 yards and added a 55-yard kick return for a touchdown at the outset of the second half.

Hamburg posted four scores in the second half. Kaleb Kahue rushed for a score from a yard out in the third quarter and Klinton Hansen added a two-yard scoring run, also in the third frame. Doug Raymond scored on a 52-yard run and Aaron Mincer scored on a 34-yard pass from Matt Quick during fourth quarter action.

The loss by Hamburg drops the Wildcats’ overall record to 3-4.

Hamburg opened the season with two losses before winning three in a row. The team fell to South Page two weeks ago before falling to Sidney on Friday.

Hamburg will return to action against Stanton at 7:30 p.m. Friday and wrap up the season next week at East Mills.
